The Modern Builder's Stack · Part 1

YOU'RE ALREADY APPROVED
TO SELL MORE THAN YOU THINK.

The problem isn't that everything is gated. The problem is that you don't know which doors are already unlocked. Ungating Solved fixes that.

What Sourcing Feels Like
When Everything Looks Gated

You sit down to source. You find a product. Looks promising. Great price gap. Solid rank history.

Then you click "Sell on Amazon." And you see the red message.

You need approval to sell this.

You try the next one. Same thing. And the next. And the next.

Eventually you either buy something you're not sure about, bail on the sourcing session, or start Googling "how to get ungated" and fall into a rabbit hole of outdated advice, fake invoices, and ungating services that either don't work or get your account flagged.

"Everything I want to sell is gated."
"I bought inventory before I realized I couldn't list it."
"I've been trying to get ungated in [brand] for three months."
"I don't even know what I'm approved to sell anymore."

Seven years of coaching Amazon sellers. Those four sentences are the four I hear the most.

Here's the thing: the sellers saying those things aren't wrong about gating being real. They're wrong about what's gated.

"You almost certainly have access to far more inventory than you realize. The approvals are already there. You just don't know where to look."
The core insight

Amazon's Gating System
Is Not What You Think It Is

Most sellers think about gating in one dimension: either a product is gated or it isn't. That mental model costs them thousands of dollars in missed inventory every year.

Here's the reality. Amazon gatekeeps at four separate levels, and they operate independently of each other. Getting approved at one level doesn't automatically open the others. But - and this is the key - being approved at any one level means there's a specific set of products you can already list right now.

1
Category Level
The broadest gate. Some categories require approval to sell anything inside them at all.
2
Subcategory Level
You can be approved in a category and still hit a gate at the subcategory. They're checked independently.
3
Brand Level
Amazon restricts specific brands regardless of category. Approval for one brand doesn't mean approval for another - even in the same subcategory.
4
ASIN Level
Individual listings can be gated even when the brand, subcategory, and category are all open. This is the one that burns people who don't check before they source.
The shift that changes everything

The goal of Ungating Solved is not to help you apply for approvals you don't have. It's to systematically identify the approvals you already have across all four levels - and build a sourcing strategy around that inventory instead of fighting gates you don't need to fight.

Most sellers are chasing approvals with one hand while ignoring a warehouse full of products they're already approved to sell with the other. This course is about turning around and opening that warehouse.

The mindset shift

Stop Hunting.
Start Building.

Traditional Amazon advice tells you to "find something to sell." So you open Keepa, start looking at products one by one, hit a gate on four out of five, and close your laptop frustrated.

That's the hunter mindset. It works - slowly, expensively, and inconsistently.

The builder mindset flips it. Instead of starting with a product and hoping you're approved, you start with what you're approved to sell and build your sourcing around that. You build a brand list. You build a sourcing workflow. You build infrastructure that compounds over time instead of starting from zero every single morning.

The Hunter
Hoping for the Best
  • Finds products → hopes they're not gated
  • Applies for approvals → waits → gets rejected
  • Wastes sourcing sessions on gated inventory
  • Starts from zero every morning
  • Confused about what they're actually approved to sell
The Builder
Building on What You Have
  • Knows exactly which brands they can sell
  • Sources to their approvals - not against them
  • Checks at scale before buying, not after
  • Each sourcing session builds on the last
  • Inventory approval is never a surprise

That shift - from hunter to builder - is the entire point of this course.

What's inside

Ungating Solved:
The Course

No fluff. No 47-module course you'll never finish. Each module teaches one specific piece of the framework, builds on the last, and leaves you with something you can apply immediately.

1
The Four-Level Gating System (And Why Most Sellers Only Think About One)
Understand exactly how Amazon's gating works across categories, subcategories, brands, and individual ASINs. See why these levels operate independently and why that's actually great news for your business. You'll walk away with a completely different mental model for how you approach gated inventory.
2
Building Your Brand Master List: S-Brands vs. M-Brands
Not all brands gate the same way. Some (S-brands) only exist in a single Amazon category, so approval there is clean and simple. Others (M-brands) span multiple categories and subcategories, meaning approval in one subcategory doesn't give you the green light everywhere. We cover how to identify which is which and why that distinction drives your entire sourcing strategy.
3
The Bulk Approval Check: How to Know What You're Approved for in Minutes, Not Hours
Manual checking kills sourcing momentum. We walk through using Gatekeep.tech to run bulk approval checks across your brand list so you know where you stand before you spend a single dollar on inventory. Covers common false positives from API fluctuations and how to verify manually when you need to.
4
The Vetted Brand List: Your Sourcing Shortlist, Ready to Go
You get access to the brand master list we've built and vetted - hundreds of brands organized by category and subcategory, pre-classified as S or M, so you're not starting from scratch. Filter it to your approvals and you've got a sourcing shortlist ready to run against your preferred retail sources.
5
Finding Products from Approved Brands: The Keepa Product Finder Workflow
Now that you know which brands you can sell, you need to find which products from those brands are actually worth buying. We walk through a specific Keepa Product Finder workflow using the Keepa Link Generator tool - built into the course - so you can pull live product results for any approved brand in about 30 seconds.
6
Trusted Sources: Where to Buy from Approved Brands (And How to Document It)
Knowing what you can sell is only half the equation. You need to know where to source it and what kind of documentation you'll get. We connect your approved brand list to our vetted five-tier sourcing framework - covering which retailers give you receipt-level documentation and which give you invoice-level - so you're building a defensible business, not just a profitable one.

Total training time: You'll be running your first bulk check before the day is out.

Who This Is For
(And Who Should Skip It)

This is for you if:

  • You're hitting gated walls constantly during sourcing sessions
  • You've bought inventory before realizing you couldn't list it
  • You don't have a clear picture of what brands you're actually approved to sell
  • You're trying to get ungated the hard way when the easy path might already be open
  • You want a systematic, repeatable way to build your sourcing around your approvals instead of fighting them

This is NOT for you if:

  • You already have a clear, working brand list and you're running bulk approval checks regularly
  • You're not doing arbitrage or wholesale on Amazon - this framework is built for that model
  • You're looking for shortcuts to ungating that violate Amazon's terms (there aren't any, and we don't teach them)
  • You want someone to do the sourcing for you - this is a teach-you-to-fish course
The bigger picture

Part 1 of
The Modern Builder's Stack

Ungating Solved is Part 1 because nothing else works without it. You can have perfect Keepa configuration and a 60-second buy decision process - but if half the products you find are gated, you're spinning your wheels. The ungating foundation comes first.

You Are Here · Part 1 Ungating Solved Know exactly what brands and categories you're approved to sell. Build your sourcing around your approvals, not against them.
2
Part 2 Sourcing Solved (Free - Watch Now) Match 10,000+ ASINs to retail sources in under 10 minutes. The bulk sourcing workflow that changes how you find products.
3
Part 3 Keepa Quick Start Set up, configure, and actually use every Keepa feature. The foundation for every data decision you'll make.
4
Part 4 Should I Buy This? The 3-Step Check. Three questions, yes or no, in 60 seconds. Confident buy decisions backed by real data.

Old-school sellers hunt for deals every day and start from zero every morning. Builders create infrastructure that works whether they're actively sourcing or not. The Stack is that infrastructure.

One Bad Source Decision
Costs More Than This Course

One sourcing session where you bought inventory without checking approval status first. One product that sat in FBA for months because you couldn't list it. One application-and-wait cycle that cost you three weeks of sourcing momentum.

These aren't hypotheticals. They're the stories we hear every week in the community.

This course likely costs less than one of those mistakes. And it prevents all the future ones.

Ungating Solved

around what you're already approved to sell.

Frequently Asked Questions

Not primarily - and that's intentional. The whole point of this course is that you probably already have more approvals than you realize, and you should start there. We do cover the landscape of how Amazon's approval process works, but the framework is about working with your existing approvals, not waiting on new ones.
Gatekeep.tech is a third-party tool that lets you run bulk approval checks against your Seller Central account. There is a cost associated with it. We cover it in the course because it's the most efficient way to check hundreds of brands at once, but we're also transparent about its limitations - including false positives that can occur due to Amazon's API behavior. We cover how to handle those.
Yes. The Keepa Product Finder Link Generator is a simple web-based tool (built right into the course) that pre-builds Keepa Product Finder search links for any brand on your list. It's not a subscription, not a separate purchase - it's part of what you get when you enroll. It makes finding products from approved brands much faster.
It depends on where you are. If you're still in the "setting up your account" phase, finish that first. But if you're active on Amazon and hitting gating issues within your first few months, this course will absolutely help. Understanding the four-level gating system early saves you a lot of pain and wasted money.
An S-brand (single-category brand) exists in only one Amazon category, so if you're approved to sell it, you're clear across the board for that brand. An M-brand (multi-category brand) spans multiple categories and subcategories, and approval in one doesn't guarantee approval in the others. The distinction matters because your sourcing strategy for each is different - and buying the wrong product from an M-brand without checking can land you with unsellable inventory.
Both. The brand master list and approval-checking workflow applies regardless of how you're sourcing. If anything, wholesale sellers benefit even more - because the stakes are higher when you're ordering in quantity, knowing your approval status before you commit to an order matters even more than it does in arbitrage.
Yes. The course includes the same five-tier trusted sources analysis (300+ retailers classified) that members have access to as a companion resource. It's integrated into the course so you understand how to connect your approved brands to the right sourcing channels and documentation types.

You've Got Two Choices

Option 1
Keep doing what you're doing. Find a product, hope it's not gated, hit the wall, try the next one. Apply for approvals, wait, get rejected, try again. Buy inventory before you know if you can list it. Wonder every sourcing session why everything you want is off-limits.

Or worse - give up and decide Amazon "isn't worth it anymore."
Option 2
Know exactly which brands you're approved to sell. Build your brand master list. Run a bulk approval check. Source to your approvals instead of against them.

Start every sourcing session with a shortlist of products you can actually list. Build infrastructure that compounds. Stop hunting. Start building.

P.S. If you're on the fence, ask yourself this: how many sourcing sessions in the last month did you cut short because too many products were gated? How many times did you buy something and then discovered you couldn't list it? Every one of those is a problem this course solves. Get on the list. Be first when enrollment opens.

P.P.S. Not ready to commit yet? Start with Part 2 - Sourcing Solved - which is completely free. It's the bulk sourcing workflow that matches 10,000+ ASINs to retail sources in under 10 minutes. Watch it here. Then come back when you're ready to build the ungating foundation underneath it.
